Earthbound

A brief story of the Terran introduction of Pelzar, Seventh Prince of the Ordissioners of Ztercon Five, for all the Ozeekian Emprie and sub-lying regions of space

Scouring the galaxy in the service of the O.I.F. New Resources Division, Pelzar enters the Sol System on a routine survey mission. Historical astrological information had reported a recent gravitational event, with the possible result of a planet's destruction, which could result in the creation of an easily minable debris field. While manuevering through the planetary debris between the 4th and 5th remaining planets, an engine malfunction forces him to make an emergency landing on the more hospitable 3rd planet of the system.

While preparing to enter the atmosphere of the small blue-green planet, Pelzar realizes that a small civilization has developed on the surface since the last geological survey of the area. The discovery leads him to more carefully plan his descent, and he decides on the relatively sparse center of one of the larger continents. The open deserts and low population density makes an inobtrusive landing easier. Putting down in a remote part of the so-called "Desert South-West", he begins surveillance of the culture he has quietly invaded.

To repair his ship, Pelzar needs to search for both raw materials and useable power sources. He begins examining the inhabitants and their habits, looking for a way to walk freely amongst them. Shortly after beginning his reconnaissance of the area, he realizes that the inhabitants would be hard to blend in with, as few seemed to reach anything over two meters in height. And none of them are covered from head to toe in green fur. Fortunately, being part of the well-supplied, highly advanced (and fairly paranoid) Ozeekian Imperial Fleet gives him access to a wide variety of "emergency" equipment.
